After learning what digital marketing is and why it is important for your business, it is now time to get your business online. Many people now have access access to the internet and they are using the internet to search for products or services they need instead of searching through stores in towns and cities. This means that if your business is not online, you are missing out on many potential customers. People should be able to find your business whenever they search for any product or service that is associated with your business.
Now the question is “how can you get your business online?”
In this digital era, the industry is very much competitive. You must have a well defined strategy that will help you succeed if you want to be successful online. However, to get started first, you need to do the following:
1. Use local listing services
Your company need to be registered on the local listing services. The most common ones are Google, Yahoo and Bing. Registering with Google Places allows your business to be found more easily on Google searches and Google Maps. Yahoo! also has a free big database of businesses called Yahoo! Local. Microsoft’s Bing has a similar service that’s easy to sign up for.
2. Create a website for your business and optimize it
It is very much important for your business to have a website with information about your company, it’s products or services and how prospective customers can reach you. The website should be well designed and it should not take long to load in order to keep visitors interested. There should be clear navigation links to allow visitors to locate the information they need. If you are not a good webs designer or developer, i would advice you to hire someone who can do it for you. We will discuss more about features of a good and professional website later.
Having a well designed website is not enough. You need to register it with google, bing or even yahoo so that whenever people search for it online, it can appear on search engines. Your web content should be creative and well optimized too. Your website should be responsive so that it can fit on any screen size to accommodate visitors using mobile devices. We will also discuss search engine optimization in detail in the articles to follow.
3. Create social media pages for your business
According to wearesocial.com, there are 3.48 billion social media users in 2019, with the worldwide total growing by 288 million (9 percent) since this time last year. Worldwide, there are over 2.38 billion monthly active users (MAU) as of March 31, 2019. This is an 8 percent increase in Facebook MAUs year over year. This is compared to 2.32 billion MAUs for Q4 2018 (zephoria.com, 2019).
Almost all the world’s population uses social media which makes it very important for every business to utilize this platform to grow its business. The four main goals which social media marketing are:
- Brand Awareness
- Generating leads
- Customer Services
- Drive Traffic
